GOODSPRINGS HISTORICAL SOCIETY
2009 Announcement
May 2ndand 3rd, 2009
Twenty-Seventh Annual
Does anyone remember the Goodsprings CookBook from 1981? There are many recipes from Old Timers such as Evelyn Chronister, Thelma Poole, Tiny Russell, Cora Schwartz, Irena Van and many others. This may be 'food for thought' on the new book that the Historical Society is making.
This year's planning is a bit different but it is still the time to gather round Old Timers from Goodsprings, Jean, Sandy Valley, Erie, Potosi, Roach, Sloan and Stateline [now Primm] to exchange stories of yesteryear along with pictures of memories. It is always a great time to be had by the old and the young.
Charles Barnes and Brad Whitney will be the chief honchos behind food preparation this year, keeping the Whitney tradition, for which we are thankful.
The Goodsprings School will be open during the day Saturday and Sunday. A collection of the Goodsprings School history will be on display in the old Clubhouse on Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Sunday from10:00 am to 4:00pm.
See the Goodsprings School historical collection, tour the smallest and oldest school in CCSD, enjoy a potluck meal and meet some old timers, walk or drive the town and see some old buildings, visit the 96-year-old Pioneer Saloon, and stop at the town cemetery on your way out.
